With the hype around AI and machine learning; which has actually been around for decades; there is a rise in shadow AI with the associated traditional risk of data being extracted and shipped outside the organisation or even the country. To protect from AI misuse we have to understand it but with the hype comes fear, and this session dispels that by explaining the basics we all learn at school. It then goes on to look at Large Language Model tools like ChatGPT and Copilot and the new risks they introduce due to the data used to train them; if we train systems using the internet do they know fact from fiction? The way these work and how to protect ourselves is covered; with recommendations for policies. If I reference the TV Series “House” from ChatGPT and later use the system to diagnose a patient in healthcare is the diagnosis fact or fiction?…..
