John Kouroutzoglou started his security career in the early 1990s, before the internet was mainstream and “cybersecurity” was even a job title. Back then, he was wiring up banks and commercial buildings with physical security systems built to keep real people out, not hackers.
Today, he leads Secure Tactix, a consultancy blending physical security, fraud prevention, and cyber risk into one practical approach. John has worked across government, fintech, education, and global tech, helping organisations secure everything from AWS environments to badge systems and insider threats.
He has built ISO 27001 and SOC 2 programs from scratch, led fraud investigations at Service NSW, and trained red teams to think like criminals. His talks are blunt, funny, and full of real-world lessons from over two decades on the frontlines of security.
